Donald Trump Criticized for “Disrespect” at Pope Francis’ Funeral After Breaking Dress Code

by TheSarkariForm

Donald Trump is facing fresh backlash after his appearance at Pope Francis’ funeral today, with many calling his behavior “disrespectful” during the somber event in Vatican City.

The former president attended the service alongside his wife Melania, who followed tradition by wearing an all-black outfit with a modest black veil. Trump, however, stood out — and not in a good way — arriving in a bright blue suit while most world leaders and dignitaries were dressed in black.

Social media users were quick to react, accusing Trump of showing a lack of respect at one of the most significant Catholic ceremonies in recent history.
“Who wears a blue suit to a funeral?” one person wrote. “Such a lack of class.”
Another said: “Melania got the memo. Trump, as always, thinks rules don’t apply to him.”

More than 250,000 people had visited the Pope’s body during three days of public mourning, with 54 heads of state and 12 reigning monarchs attending the funeral. Figures like UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Prince William were also present, all dressed appropriately for the occasion.

Proceedings began at 10 a.m. local time and are expected to last into the early afternoon, with Pope Francis’ body later being moved to St. Mary Major Basilica, a church he visited frequently during his life.

The backlash over Trump’s outfit comes as the former president faces separate controversy at home. Legal proceedings have been launched in the U.S. after a two-year-old girl — born in Louisiana — was deported alongside her Honduran mother and sister earlier this week, a decision critics say lacked “meaningful process.”

As the funeral continued in Rome, many online couldn’t help but notice how Trump’s actions once again managed to overshadow a moment meant for reflection and respect.
